Creationtide 2026: Living Water

Creationtide or the ‘Season of Creation’ is the period in the annual church calendar, from Tuesday 1 September to Sunday 4 October, dedicated to God as the Creator and Sustainer of all life. It is a time to celebrate the gift of creation and renew our commitment to care for God’s planet, through prayer, worship, and practical action.

This year’s theme is ‘Living Water’, based on the vision from Ezekiel 47:1-12. God’s life-giving water flows from the temple of God, restoring a desolate place, reviving waters, and bringing transformation.

Getting involved

There are a number of ways to get involved this Creationtide, with resources and events available in our diocese and across the Church of England:

Taking place at Rochester Cathedral on Saturday 19 September, it will explore the connections between our faith, the choices we make and the challenges facing communities around the world. for this free event.
  • A major new teaching document from the House of Bishops,  has also been released, as well as liturgy for a new , taking place on the first Sunday of September. Both of these reflect how the Church of England is responding to the climate and biodiversity crises not only through policy, but through its teaching, worship and shared practice.
  •  will be running for a second year. Switching to a green energy tariff is a small but practical step your church can take to reduce your environmental impact.
